The Council for Responsible Sport grants the recognition as a result of responsible actions taken in favor of the environment and the community

(September 2nd, 2015). CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, received the Silver level certification for the fourth edition of the CAF-Caracas Marathon, which took place on April 26th, 2015. This recognition is granted by the Council for Responsible Sport, an international organization based in Portland, United States, which sponsors the social benefits of the event, as well as measuring and reducing the environmental footprint.
Ligia Castro, CAF’s Director for The Environment and Climate Change , expressed, “We are very pleased to receive this certification as a sustainable event, as it is the result of a multidisciplinary team work between the Organizing Committee and several areas within the Institution. The CAF-Caracas Marathon is the first event in Venezuela to receive this certification, which is shared with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (United States, 2014 Silver level), the Suissegas Milano Marathon (Italy, 2015 Gold level), and the Mexico City Marathon (Mexico, 2014 Gold level)”.
Receiving the Silver level shows that in its last edition, the CAF-Caracas Marathon improved the sustainability of the sports event through responsible actions regarding the environment and the community. The areas considered to grant the recognition were planning, communications, acquisition of resources, resource management, access and equity, and the legacy for the community.
